The More Than Modern Family

It's America's favorite comedy – "Modern Family." One lesson the show has reminded us of, if we didn't know it already, is that family life is often if not always messy. There are no perfect families. Husbands and wives misunderstand each other. Parents are baffled by their kids, and kids are annoyed at their parents.

But as challenging as family life can be, we also know this – there's nothing better than when a family works like God meant it to work. Some may think that what the Bible has to say about family life isn't very modern. But the reality is that the Bible is a more than modern book; its truths are timeless. And when we put the Bible's enduring principles into practice, we'll discover that family life can be fun, fulfilling and fantastic. It would be nice to have a perfect family, but that's not going to happen – after all, there are no perfect people. But we can, the Bible assures us, have a healthy family, even when life is messy.
