One of the biggest hits on TV over the last year has been the musical comedy-drama "Glee." It's a show about a high school "glee" club, a collection of kids with extraordinary musical talent who are otherwise considered to be the school's biggest losers. Whether or not you've seen the show, at some time in your life you've heard the music sung on the show, because it's music that comes from every walk of life - from hard rock to Broadway musicals.
This Christmas season we're going to use some of the songs from "Glee" to help us celebrate the birth of our Lord with glee. Do you remember what the angel said to the shepherds that first Christmas night? "Do not be afraid; I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord." (Luke 2:10-11) Look up the word "glee" in the dictionary and here's what you'll find – "jubilant delight, great joy, exultation, exuberance." That's what we're supposed to experience because of the good news of Christmas – jubilant delight, great joy … glee! So join us at Cornerstone as we celebrate Christmas with glee, the glee made possible only because of the birth of Jesus the Christ into our world.
