Although Greg had the influence of a Christian mother and some church attendance while growing up, it wasn’t until he was in college that the accepted Christ’s forgiveness and turned his life over to God. Before that, he says, "life was too good to change." Some disappointments caused him to realize he needed God in his life.

Rebecca accepted Christ earlier in life, but there was little Christian growth until she was in college. At that time God used an older sister who had become a believer to show her the Bible was relevant for her life, and to encourage her to get involved in a good church. Rebecca met Greg in a Bible study group at that church.

Since their walks with God really began or deepened during their college years, college students have always had a special place in their hearts. Greg and Rebecca have ministered to college students at their church for many years, sharing their heart for missions with the students. Partly through the prayers of those students, God showed them He was opening the door for them to serve in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. They will work with the BGC’s 1-by-1/Rio program and Reencontro ministries to minister to college youth. They will also be the logistics team on-site for many short-term teams form BGC churches who come to Brazil to partner with Reencontro and 1-by-1/Rio. In this way they will make a vital contribution to meeting physical and spiritual needs through compassion and church planting.
