Live Like You Where Dying

A Journey Into What Matters Most

"He said, 'I was in my early 40s, with a lot of life before me, and one moment came that stopped me on a dime. I spent most of the next days looking at the x-rays, talking about the options and talking about sweet times.' I asked him when it sank in, that this might really be the real end, how it hit you when you get that kind of news – man, what did you do? He said: 'I went skydiving, I went rocky mountain climbing, I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu. And I loved deeper, and I spoke sweeter, and I gave forgiveness I'd been denying.’'And he said some day I hope you get the chance to live like you were dying." (From the song performed by Tim McGraw)

That's our plan for this series – to discover how we could live life more fully by learning to live like we were dying. Only God knows, of course, how long our lives will be. As Job says to God, "Man’s days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed." (Job 14:5) But the question for us is this – how might we live differently if we knew our time on earth was coming to an end? Would our schedules look different? Would our priorities change? What would we want to say to the people we love? And what might be different about our walk with God? There probably aren’t many of us who would want to go 2.7 seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu … I'm quite sure I wouldn't. But loving deeper, speaking sweeter, giving forgiveness and embracing eternity – those kinds of changes would certainly make my life better. Join us at Cornerstone as we take a journey into what matters most and discover how to live more fully by learning to "live like we were dying."
