Defining Moments

The Choices That Change Us Forever

Have you ever had a “defining moment?”  Perhaps you had an experience that encouraged you to change your career; you saw a movie that inspired you to take a relationship to the next level; you had a physical setback that motivated you to make a major change in your lifestyle; you met a person that moved you to commit your life to a cause.  You mark time with those moments – there is life before that moment, and life after.  They are those moments where you made a choice that in one way or another changed you and changed your world forever.

The Book of Genesis – the first book of the Bible – is filled with defining moments, those soul-shaping, destiny-changing times that continue to impact each of our lives even today.  We read Genesis not only because it’s history; we read it because it’s our history.  But more than a history lesson, Genesis teaches us how to handle our own defining moments wisely.  Not all decisions are equally important.  Your life is not likely to be much different because you picked chicken over steak last night for dinner.  But the people you chose to be with for that dinner and the issues you chose to discuss with them might well become a moment you look back on as one that changed you forever.  And when those moments come, we need to be ready for them; they are simply too important, for us and for those we love.  Join us at Cornerstone as we learn from men and women who shaped world history how to handle the defining moments in our lives – those choices that change us forever – with the wisdom, care and courage they deserve.
